10 Questions to Know if You Are Ready to Start a Business

Many people dream of start your own business and achieve your Financial IndependenceHowever, the main obstacle they face is the fear and insecurity of not being prepared.

Fear of failure can override your creativity, and it’s sad to see how many drop out even before they’ve tried.

Self-test for Entrepreneurs

Instructions: Rate each question from 1 to 5 being: 1 = little and 5 = a lot.

  1. Do you go on your own initiative to training seminars or do you read business books?
  2. Do you dream of be your own boss and are you willing to work twice of what you currently work in your job?
  3. You have work experience related to business idea What do you intend to undertake?
  4. Do you have a close relative who has or has had a successful own business ?
  5. Do you have difficulty interacting and establishing relationship with people what do you know?
  6. Do you usually like have control and are you responsible with the decisions you make?
  7. You are not willing to sacrifice part of your family and personal time to invest in the building your company?
  8. Do you have the ability to be self-taught and adapt quickly to difficult situations?
  9. Do you prefer to go alone and find it difficult to work together with other people?
  10. Do you consider yourself innovative and are you willing to take certain risks to achieve your goals?

Record your answers on a piece of paper. To make the exercise formative and not just a test, carefully analyze your answers and be honest with yourself. Actually this test aims to show you which areas you need to strengthen prior to start your business.

Qualifying the Entrepreneur Test

Add the answers to questions 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 10
Subtract the result of the answers to questions 5.7 from the previous total.
You will get a final total that is described below:

  • If the result is between 25 and 35 you are ready to start. You have the attitude and all the external factors indicate that you could be successful in your project. Make a business plan and start taking action.
  • If the result is between 10 and 24 you are in the process but you need to improve your attitude and your disposition to learn. You should read more, take some courses, and work hard on your decision-making skills. Go ahead and don’t give up your dream.
  • If the result is 10 or less then you should wait a bit and take the time to study, research, improve your self-control skills and relationship with other people. Undertaking at this time would represent a high risk but do not be discouraged, it is only a matter of preparation.
