Togo’s was founded in San Jose in 1971 by a young college student with a big appetite and little money. He bought a little sandwich hut, where he started making sandwiches the way he wanted – large, made-to-order and filled with fresh ingredients. It didn’t take long for lines to come out the door.

We started franchising in the late 1970s and built a loyal fan base that continues to grow.

Almost 49 years later, we can confidently say that we have a cult following. After all, you don’t win the “West Coast Original” title in a price war – we have freshly baked artisanal bread, premium meat cut by hand every day and fresh Hass avocados to say thank you for it.

Our sandwiches are made individually for each guest, regardless of whether you place orders at the cash register, at the kiosk, online or via a delivery service.
