Mark Zuckerberg has officially announced this afternoon through his Facebook profile the purchase of WhatsApp for 16 thousand million dollars (19 million dollars official figure).
According to Mark in his press release, the mission of his company is to create a more open and connected world.
In this sense, this application perfectly complements its communication tools since currently +450 million people use WhatsaApp as a medium on a wide variety of mobile platforms, and that 70% of these users are active, which is why, as he expresses, they hope to be able to connect many more people.
Jan Koum, the founding CEO of WhatsApp indicated that WhatsApp is an invaluable tool for instant messaging and that he is excited by the idea of being able to now be part of the Facebook team.
